Adam Milstein is a renowned Israeli real estate investor, a philanthropist, and a managing partner of Hager Pacific Properties, where he oversees the firm’s financing, property management, and positioning.
As a native of Israel and the first child in family, Adam served in the Israeli Defense Forces during the 1973 Yom Kippur war. He was assigned to Ariel Sharon’s Army Division that crossed the Suez Canal to Egypt. After his mandatory service in the Israeli army, Adam enrolled in the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology and graduated with a bachelor’s
degree in business and economics in 1978. Adam, with his wife with their two daughters, decided to move to the United States, where he decided to further his studies and earned a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. After receiving his MBA, he started working in commercial real estate as a sales agent. He later rose to become a renowned real estate mogul with an estimated net worth of $200 million.
While Adam had gradually become more and more involved with philanthropic work throughout his career in the real estate world, in 2000, he decided to start his own non-profit to strategically make an impact in charities with causes that he believed in. He and his wife founded the Adam and Gila Milstein Family Foundation. As a native Israeli who moved to the United States as an adult, he saw firsthand the difficulty in staying connected to the Jewish homeland while living in the Diaspora. This is what inspired him to make the bold decision to start his philanthropic mission. As a business leader, Adam also decided to take a strategic approach to his philanthropic work—which maximizes the impact of the Milstein Family Foundation.
The main mission of The Adam and Gila Milstein Foundation is to help strengthen the State of Israel by ensuring that Jewish identity is respected by empowering the next generation. Adam sits on the board for many pro-Israel groups, including the Israel On Campus Coalition, StandWithUs, Hasbara Fellowships, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee National Council, Birthright Israel, and the Jewish Founders Network. Adam and Gila are also the co-founders of Sifriyat Pajama B’America, a charitable organization
that provides free monthly books in Hebrew, teaching Jewish values. So far, the organization has managed to reach over 15,000 Israeli and/or Jewish American families living in the United States.
Adam Milstein and his service as a philanthropic leader includes partnership development, consulting, and fundraising to support programs that focus on Jewish continuity, Jewish education and pro-Israel advocacy. Adam says his philanthropy philosophy is actually guided by three principles.
- Active philanthropy: Adam has always had a passion for giving and is committed to ensuring that his giving has a maximum impact. He invests a significant amount of time and energy in various non-profit organizations that work to empower and educate the Jewish community in the United States. Adam, Gila and his entire Milstein Family Foundation team provide guidance and technical support to ensure that every mission is successful and makes an impact. They are deeply committed to using their expertise to help every organization, project, and program that they support becomes successful.
- Life path impact : Adam has created or supported various programs tailored for childhood, adolescence, and various phases of adulthood, with the primary aim of establishing personal connections with all parts of his target audience. Adam’s success in his charitable work has been realized because he has managed to continuously engage with target audiences in stage or aspect of their lives. By supporting a variety of programs, the partner organizations of the Milstein Family Foundation have a stronger impact. Adam’s mission is not to provide short-term solutions, but to truly change the people’s lives.
- Philanthropic synergy: The Adam and Gila Milstein Family Foundation also has partnered with other nonprofit organizations that share the same vision, which allows the organizations to develop programmatic partnership and synergies. This philosophy allows these organizations to have a greater reach than each would if they worked individually, and has a force multiplier effect that encourages a greater reach. By using his network, Adam has been able to help charitable organizations develop partnerships.
Recognized Thought Leader
Adam’s prominence as a philanthropic thought leader has also helped his foundation advance these goals because he is able to bring even more prominent leaders together to further his causes. Earlier this year, he was named as the one of the 200 most influential do-gooders in the world by a London-based publication, Richtopia, based on a social media ranking system.
Milstein was number 187 on the list, which also featured other prominent business leaders-turned-philanthropists including Bill and Melinda Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Warren Buffet, Oprah Winfrey, Eric Trump, and Sean Diddy Combs, among many others. The list also included prominent politicians, like Hillary and Bill Clinton and Barack and Michelle Obama. This ranking resulted from the wide reach and influence of Adam’s Facebook and twitter accounts within the philanthropic community. On receiving the award, Adam said, “My philanthropic work is actually the most satisfying part in my life. I am honored to be included among many other prominent leaders in this field. I also want to give special thanks my wife Gila, the IAC, and many other organizations in the Jewish community that we are privileged to partner with to make a difference.’’
Adam Milstein has vowed to continue working with other like-minded nonprofit entities to safeguard and strengthen the Jewish people, and the Jewish state, by fostering Jewish pride. Since he started his philanthropic work, he has managed to change the lives of many pro-Israel Americans by using his knowledge and expertise to strengthen the critical U.S.-Israel alliance.
As the co-founder and chairman of the Israeli-American Council and a board member of many Jewish non-profit organizations, Adam has dedicated his life to changing the life of the Jewish community living in the United States. He is a driving force behind the education and empowerment of American Jews. He is on a mission to strengthening the Jewish people and the homeland of the Jewish people, the State of Israel. And he is successful thanks to his principles of building synergies between various nonprofit entities, focusing on a unifying cause, and actively helping partners related to his philanthropy.
In addition to being a philanthropist, Adam Milstein is also a prominent commercial real estate businessman and currently serves as the managing partner for the San Fernando Valley at Hager Pacific Properties. This firm specializes in acquiring, rehabilitating, and repositioning multi-family, offices, retail, and industrial properties.
